Rodney Allison is no stranger to Texas Tech Athletics as he enjoyed a successful tenure as the quarterback for the Red Raiders from 1974-1977. He was named most valuable player in the Southwest Conference in 1976 as well as MVP of the Astro Bluebonnet Bowl later that season. Following his senior season, Allison was selected to play in two all-star games, the Japan Bowl and the Hula Bowl.
In 1980, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Texas Tech. Allison then moved into collegiate coaching with stops at Texas Tech, Duke, Southern Mississippi, Auburn and Clemson. In December 2002 he was named Head Coach at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. After six seasons in Chattanooga, Allison and his wife Leigh moved back to Lubbock and in 2013 he accepted the position as Director of the Double T Varsity Club.
“At some point, I always hoped to come back to Texas Tech in a position where I could make a difference for the University and Tech’s athletic department.”
